Overview
There are many different types of student visas that are available. These are:
1. Child Student - You can apply as a child student between 4 and 17 years old at an independant fee paying school
2. Child Visitor - If you are under 17 you are allowed to come to the UK and study for up to 6 months
3. Adult Student - The most common type of student visa applicable to post 16 education
4. Student Visitor - If you are 18 years old or over, you can to come to the United Kingdom to do a course for up to six months
5. Prospective Student - If you want to come to the United Kingdom to help you decide which course to study or if you plan to start a course of study within six months.
Criteria
The most common type of student visa is the Adult Student visa. This visa is part of the Points Based System and you will need 40 points to be able to apply with the proof on your application form. The two criteria that make up these points are that you 1) Have an apporved education provider and 2) Money to cover your tuition fees and living costs.
